Satulintu

Satulintu is a seven-place, home-like residential child welfare unit in Kuusankoski, Kouvola, established in 2008. It provides accommodation, care and upbringing for children and young people aged 7–18 who need placement through preventive open-care support, an urgent placement or a care order. The unit’s work is guided by child welfare legislation and values including individuality, fairness and safety. Each child receives an individual care and upbringing plan, developed with their family, close network and relevant authorities, to support a stable daily life and positive relationships.

Satulintu’s multidisciplinary team includes eight social and health care professionals, many trained in solution-focused neuropsychiatric coaching. Its services include neuropsychiatric coaching, support with emotional skills and experience working with trauma-related symptoms. When needed, the unit also arranges basic education in cooperation with Kouvola’s education services and the child’s assigned local school. Satulintu emphasizes a secure, stimulating environment and attentive, individually tailored support, while maintaining collaboration with families, professionals and other networks involved in each child’s life.
