Savena Setta Sambro

Gruppo di Studi Savena Setta Sambro is an Italian cultural association dedicated to documenting, preserving, and sharing the history, traditions, natural environment, and everyday life of the Apennine communities around the Savena, Setta, and Sambro valleys. Founded in June 1991, it grew from a local initiative to record aspects of mountain culture that were disappearing or surviving only in the memories of older residents. Its work focuses on eight municipalities in the Bologna area: Monzuno, Monghidoro, San Benedetto Val di Sambro, Grizzana Morandi, Loiano, Sasso Marconi, Pianoro, and Castiglione dei Pepoli.

The group publishes the semestral Savena Setta Sambro magazine, alongside books on local history, people, places, and customs. Members receive the magazine, and individual issues and selected books are available through the association. Its activities also include organ music itineraries, news and events, a video collection, and an annual prize competition for university theses on Apennine communities and their historical, cultural, and environmental characteristics.
