Save Our Monarchs Foundation, based in Minneapolis, MN, is a grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit organization passionately dedicated to saving the embattled monarch butterflies. As true hands-on gardeners, we roll up our sleeves and plant milkweed plants, the monarch caterpillar's essential source of sustenance. This direct and practical approach is what makes us unique in our mission to save the Monarch.

But it's not just about distributing milkweed seeds; it's about planting them in the right location, which is crucial. That's why we collaborate with fellow gardeners to ensure that the seeds are planted and cared for properly. Our inspiration comes from Irvin and Gladys Johnson, who tirelessly sowed milkweed seeds during their vacation travels in response to the declining numbers of monarch butterflies.

Our strategy to save the monarchs consists of two simple components: Plant and Promote. We encourage individuals and organizations to join our cause by planting milkweed. Additionally, we work alongside the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Foundation, arboretums, state fairs, and butterfly conservatories to effectively spread awareness and support.
