Save the Animals Rescue Foundation (STAR Foundation) is a Long Island nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization dedicated to the welfare of wild and domestic animals. Its mission is to provide injured, displaced, and orphaned animals with a safe haven, medical care, rehabilitation, or humane euthanasia when needed, and to return as many healthy wildlife patients as possible to their natural habitats.

STAR’s licensed volunteer rehabilitators rescue and care for hundreds of wild animals each year. The organization also offers public advisory services, responding to questions about wildlife encounters and concerns, including potentially orphaned young animals and wildlife in homes. Through educational programs, member updates, and booths at community fairs and events, STAR raises awareness about wildlife conservation and how human actions affect animals.

Its STAR WARS program—Save the Animals Rescue Wild Animal Rehabilitation Sanctuary—supports a facility for treating injured or orphaned wildlife and providing free public education. STAR also features rescued pets available for adoption and invites community members to volunteer, donate, or subscribe for updates.
