About Saving Places
Saving Places, established in 1988, is the brand behind the National Trust for Historic Preservation's annual list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. This list serves as a powerful tool to raise awareness about the threats facing some of the nation's greatest treasures. Over the years, the list has identified and brought attention to more than 350 sites, leading to successful preservation efforts and the loss of only a few sites.
The 2023 list showcases the diversity of sites that reflect the rich tapestry of the American experience—a testament to the National Trust's commitment to telling the full American story. This year's list emphasizes the importance of multicultural communities in combating cultural erasure and the disappearance of community landmarks, businesses, and traditions. By mobilizing communities around their unique histories and stories, Saving Places empowers neighborhoods to address overdevelopment, displacement, gentrification, and other threats.
Join Saving Places and its partners in the mission to save America's endangered historic sites and preserve the nation's cultural heritage for future generations. Visit their website to learn more about the endangered places and how you can contribute to their preservation efforts
