Ravintola Savoy

Savoy is a historic Helsinki restaurant overlooking Esplanadi Park, welcoming guests since its founding in 1937. Located above the city’s rooftops, it is led by Chef Patron Helena Puolakka and pairs a strong sense of heritage with contemporary dining. Its food combines classic French technique with Finnish, seasonal ingredients, including game, fish, wild mushrooms and berries. Alongside changing dishes, the menu often features Savoy favourites such as Mannerheim’s pike-perch, fried Baltic herring, vorschmack and pancakes served with wild strawberries. The restaurant also offers an extensive wine cellar and private dining.

Designed originally by Alvar and Aino Aalto, Savoy retains the spirit of their clean-lined, functional interiors and natural materials. A major renovation in the early 2020s renewed the space with designer Ilse Crawford and Studioilse, in collaboration with Artek, the Helsinki City Museum and the Alvar Aalto Foundation. In summer, herbs and flowers are grown on the terrace, and rooftop beehives produce honey for the kitchen.
