About SAWTEE
SAWTEE, or South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics, and Environment, is a regional network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from five South Asian countries: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Founded in 1994, SAWTEE aims to enhance the capacity of South Asian countries to benefit from regional and global integration while addressing the challenges posed by globalization. With a focus on fair and meaningful integration, SAWTEE engages in a range of activities, including policy research, advocacy, capacity building, sensitization, and networking.
SAWTEE operates as a think tank and has been recognized at local, national, regional, and global levels. The organization has registered as a non-profit NGO in Nepal and serves as the secretariat for various national and international networks, including the National Alliance for Food Security in Nepal (NAFOS), Farmers Rights Advocacy Network (FRANK), and Least Developed Countries Network for Economic Transformation (LDC-NET). Supported by membership fees, publication sales, and contributions from development partners, SAWTEE is committed to promoting fair, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable growth in South Asia.
With a vision of ensuring the well-being of all stakeholders, particularly the poor and marginalized, SAWTEE strives to contribute to informed policy-making, meaningful participation, and regional cooperation in the pursuit of poverty reduction, food security, and environmental sustainability
