Sawyer Creek Appaloosas is a family-run Appaloosa breeding operation in Gouverneur, Northern New York, at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. The horses live on a 234-acre property of meadows, woods, rock outcrops, and streams, where the owners believe a natural setting helps develop social, versatile, and vigorous animals. The herd includes nationally pointed and titled horses, World and National Champions, and proven producers.
Although many are vividly colored, the breeding program prioritizes quality conformation and draws on both modern and foundation bloodlines. Sawyer Creek crosses its mares with competitive Appaloosa and American Quarter Horse stallions, producing horses that have earned titles across a variety of disciplines. The operation offers horses for sale, with many young horses going to show homes, but describes its focus as breeding to improve the Appaloosa breed rather than running a show barn.
The Kreider family’s involvement dates to the 1950s, and its continuing goal is to breed competitive, athletic, good-natured Appaloosas with distinctive coat patterns and offer quality stock at family-accessible prices
