SBRI Healthcare

SBRI Healthcare is a nationally recognized and award-winning program that focuses on accelerating innovative technologies in the NHS and broader health and social care system. Their aim is to address unmet health and care needs through funding and support for early-stage projects. SBRI Healthcare enables testing for business feasibility, technology development, and real-world implementation studies.

The program is funded by the Accelerated Access Collaborative, which brings together industry, government, regulators, patients, and the NHS, and is supported by The AHSN Network. SBRI Healthcare aligns with the NHS Long Term Plan goals, including funding and staffing provisions, reducing inequalities, and managing the challenges associated with a growing and aging population. By collaborating closely with frontline NHS and social care staff, as well as the AHSNs, SBRI Healthcare identifies specific competition themes.

The program improves patient care, enhances NHS efficiencies, enables access to new innovations, and creates economic value and wealth opportunities for the UK economy. To date, SBRI Healthcare has supported over 306 innovations, generated over 280 patents, leveraged substantial private investment, and created and retained numerous jobs while improving patient outcomes. The Program Management Office was established to ensure the program's long-term sustainability and integration with other programmes managed by the Innovations Team.

The team comprises qualified scientists and specialized IP and commercial personnel, who bring a wealth of experience in the tech transfer field.
