SBW Berlin is a social-impact organization focused on expanding educational opportunities and supporting people in difficult circumstances. Working with scholarship recipients and partner organizations in Germany and abroad, it develops and funds projects intended to benefit individuals and society. Its approach combines education with practical social engagement: scholarship recipients pursue their studies while creating or contributing to social projects.

The organization offers scholarship programs for students in social fields, refugees, and international students. Depending on the program, support may include tuition fees, monthly assistance, and a furnished room in a shared student flat in Berlin. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an interest in social engagement, collaborate with a community or nonprofit organization in their home country, and develop a social project during their studies.

SBW Berlin also runs initiatives beyond its scholarships. Its school project in Tryavna, Bulgaria, supports talented children and helps hospitalised children keep up with their education.
