Scalarama

Scalarama is an annual celebration of cinema held every September, uniting film enthusiasts across the UK to enjoy a diverse range of films together. Since its inception in 2011, Scalarama has drawn inspiration from the iconic Scala Cinema, fostering community-driven film screenings in unexpected locations—from bustling cities to quaint villages. This festive month invites cinemas, film clubs, and individuals to showcase classic, rare, and locally made films, promoting a DIY spirit of inclusivity and collaboration.

With no participation fees, Scalarama encourages local communities to start their own screenings and connect through their shared love of film. The initiative supports new filmmakers and seasoned exhibitors alike, providing resources and guidance to help individuals create unique cinema experiences in their own neighborhoods. Whether you're new to the film scene or a seasoned organizer, Scalarama offers countless opportunities to engage, network, and discover new cinematic gems. Join the movement and transform your town into a vibrant cinema hub this September!
