Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America is a cultural and educational organization in New York City and the headquarters of the American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF). It presents the culture and contemporary vitality of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden through public programs and visitor experiences. Its offerings include exhibitions, film series, concerts and other performances, readings, lectures, panel discussions, and symposia.
The center also provides language courses, learning activities, children’s programs, and online programming, creating opportunities for audiences of different ages to engage with Nordic arts and ideas. Events range from Nordic cinema festivals and literary discussions to design panels, food demonstrations, workshops, and seasonal celebrations such as a Swedish Lucia procession. Located at 58 Park Avenue in Manhattan, Scandinavia House welcomes visitors to its galleries and studios and offers a shop, food, and spaces available for rentals.
Designed by Polshek Partnership Architects, now Ennead Architects, the center opened in October 2000. Through its cultural and educational programming, it connects American audiences with Nordic traditions, creativity, and perspectives
