Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) is a non-profit registered charity based in Edmonton and Athabasca. Committed to making a positive impact on both animals and people, SCARS rescues and cares for animals in need. With a vision of a world where all animals are valued and treated with compassion, SCARS aims to leave no animal behind. SCARS takes in unwanted pets and those at risk of euthanasia. Each animal receives comprehensive care, including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping.

They also work to find loving homes for over 2,000 pets annually and actively focus on preventing pet overpopulation. This includes partnerships with First Nations and Métis communities in northern Alberta, where pet services may be limited.
