SJM, the Schachjugend Mittelrhein, is the youth chess organization of the Mittelrhein Chess Association in Germany. It supports young chess players across the region by coordinating competitions, leagues, events and information for players, families, clubs and volunteers. Its activities include U16 and U20 team leagues, age-group individual championships and team championships, as well as a student rapid-chess cup. Events serve players from under-8 to under-20 age groups, with separate girls’ categories at selected championships.

The SJM website is a central resource for schedules, tournament announcements, entry information, standings, pairings and results. It also provides forms, regulations, contact details and links to participating clubs and regional districts and associations. Annual highlights include regional championships, qualification and reserve-place information, and training courses for young players. The organization also invites members to its annual general meeting and seeks volunteers to help supervise championships. Through its competitions and events, SJM offers young people opportunities to play, develop their chess skills and take part in fair regional contests.
