Meike Schüttkus is a freelance celebrant who creates thoughtful, personal farewells that honour a person’s life and the connections they leave behind. Based in Heidelberg, she serves the Rhine-Neckar region and travels wherever her support is needed. Her services include planning and leading funeral and memorial ceremonies, delivering eulogies, and writing personal obituaries based on families’ wishes and in their preferred style.
Schüttkus begins by listening: she makes time for relatives to share memories, stories and details that capture the person being remembered. She then works with them to shape a ceremony, advising on its structure and helping them choose an approach, from traditional elements to more contemporary touches. Services can take place in a cemetery, woodland burial site or another location. Her words are warm, appreciative and attentive to both tender and lighter memories, offering comfort while celebrating a life.
Ceremonies, speeches and obituaries are available in German, English, Spanish, or a combination of these languages.
