Schutterij EMM Ooy, short for Eendracht Maakt Macht, is a community shooting and cultural association based in Ooy-Zevenaar. Founded in 1894, the organization preserves the traditions of Dutch schutterijen, which developed from local guilds and now continue their heritage in a folkloric and community-focused way. Guided by the motto “In Brotherhood, Loyalty and Service,” EMM aims to maintain the association’s character, strengthen its standing and foster close ties within the village.
The association keeps traditional customs alive, particularly through ceremonial processions featuring its corps, and brings members and residents together at annual events. These include the well-known Kermis Ooy, the Schuttersfeest, king-shooting ceremonies and shooting competitions held in the Netherlands and abroad. Its calendar also features activities such as Koningsdag celebrations and a New Year’s gathering, alongside events for members and the wider community.
