Over Schuttersgilde ExcelsiorIn 1924 werd de basis gelegd voor schuttersvereniging Excelsior. Vijf mannen, die flink wat borrels achter de kiezen hadden, trokken met een geïmproviseerd vaandel de zaal van Schuttersgilde Eendracht Maakt Macht binnen. Schuttersgilde Excelsior is a community shooting guild and association founded in 1924. Its beginnings are traced to five men who entered the hall of Schuttersgilde Eendracht Maakt Macht with an improvised banner. Since then, Excelsior has grown into an established and active vereniging, preserving its history while bringing people together through its activities and celebrations.
The guild organizes schuttersfeesten, including events connected with the local kermis, and features live music. Past and announced performers include Cabrio and KalibeR, with both acts scheduled to return in 2027. Excelsior also shares news, photographs and historical information about the association, its former kings and its sponsors. Its banner is an important part of that heritage: the current one is believed to date from the 1960s and may incorporate elements of the original banner from the 1920s.
