Scienza is an outpatient addiction treatment center in Paarl, South Africa, offering an alternative to hospital-based rehabilitation for people experiencing alcohol or substance use disorders. Its intensive outpatient program is based on the evidence-based Matrix Model and is designed to let clients participate in treatment while remaining active in their work, family, and community lives. The program may also complement inpatient care or treatment for co-occurring disorders.

During the initial 16-week phase, clients attend sessions three times a week. Treatment includes individual and group sessions, alongside family education that helps loved ones understand addiction, recovery, and changes within relationships. Scienza explains addiction in accessible, client-centered terms, with a focus on how substance use affects the brain and practical strategies that can support long-term recovery.

The center adapts its approach to individual needs, potentially incorporating anti-addiction medication, psychological or psychiatric support for co-occurring conditions, or spiritual guidance. After the intensive phase, clients can access a further six months of continuing care and support.
