Himawari Jigyodan is a Shizuoka-based organization established with people with disabilities at its center. Its mission is to help create a community where everyone can learn, work, and live together, and where people with disabilities can make choices and build lives in the community. Through its Shizuoka Independent Living Center, staff members with disabilities draw on their own experience to support others seeking greater independence.

The organization also provides home-helper and guide-helper dispatch services, daytime support through its inclusive adult day-care service, and work opportunities through a Type B continuous employment support program that also emphasizes art. Its group homes offer shared community living with support from staff, while its consultation service provides care-planning and broader advice. At its independent-living experience house, people can practice everyday activities such as cooking, bathing, and staying overnight in an apartment setting.
