SC Merlin

Sportclub Merlin e. V. is a nonprofit sports club in Berlin dedicated to traditional Shotokan karate. Describing itself as “a piece of Japan in the heart of Berlin,” the club welcomes current karate practitioners and people interested in starting martial arts. It is a recognised sports organisation supported by the State of Berlin and is a member of the German Karate Federation and the Berlin Karate Federation.

The club offers karate training and invites prospective members to attend a trial session. Its website provides information about training times, the club, its instructors, membership and activities, alongside impressions from training and updates from the community. Sportclub Merlin also promotes violence prevention and self-defence. Its programme includes workshops for girls and women, and the club reports that self-defence instruction is delivered by licensed teachers.

With a focus on classical Shotokan karate, Sportclub Merlin combines regular practice with opportunities to learn practical self-protection skills and take part in club life.
