The Dictionary of Scottish Architects (DSA) is a comprehensive online database dedicated to the architecture profession in Scotland, covering the years 1660 to 1980. This invaluable resource provides detailed biographical information and project lists for architects known to have worked in Scotland, including principals, assistants, and apprentices. Users can search the database by architect name, location, practice, or building, ensuring easy access to a wealth of historical data.

With a catalog of over 16,500 biographies and 61,000 building entries, the DSA highlights significant works by acclaimed architects such as Sir John James Burnet and Sir Robert Stodart Lorimer. The database continues to expand, gradually filling in entries for architects who practiced post-World War II. While the DSA aims to be as comprehensive as possible, it encourages user contributions to improve accuracy and completeness. This ongoing project not only facilitates research but also preserves Scotland’s rich architectural heritage for future generations.
