About SCPR
The Syrian Center for Policy Research (SCPR) is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit think tank that focuses on public policy-oriented research to bridge the gap between research and policy-making processes. SCPR aims to promote sustainable, inclusive, and human-centered development by engaging in a participatory evidence-based policy dialogue. They undertake research on various topics, including conflict economies, governance, health performance, and population status.
One of SCPR's recent focuses has been the impact of the devastating earthquake that hit the southern regions of Turkey and northwestern Syria in February 2023. This earthquake had catastrophic effects on Syria, a country already torn apart by war. SCPR has organized a webinar to launch a report titled The Impact of the Earthquake in Syria - The Missing Developmental Approach in the Shadow of Conflict.
The report, developed in collaboration with the University of Vienna, highlights the earthquake's consequences, the poor response from international powers, and the weak relief structures in the region. SCPR strives to provide informative and critical research to facilitate better policy-making and development in Syria
