About Scrolling Along
Lizzies Scribal Project is an educational resource created by Elizabeth of Roxbury-Mill, a scribe who works across medieval and modern traditions. The site shares guidance for people interested in scribal arts, particularly within the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), and presents its information as a journey through the SCA’s Known World, organized by kingdom.
Visitors can explore kingdom and principality pages covering award scrolls, how to obtain a scribal assignment, and ways to connect with local scribal communities. The project also offers practical learning resources, including guides to using gouache, mixing and matching manuscript colors, calligraphy, illumination, heraldry, and recommended materials. Additional links point to scribal books, online manuscripts, and illuminated manuscript collections. A blog and podcast-related content, along with Elizabeth’s scribal gallery and YouTube channel, provide further ways to engage with the work and the craft. Designed for aspiring and practicing scribes, Lizzies Scribal Project brings together reference links, creative instruction, and community connections in one accessible guide.
