Scuola di Scherma e.V. is a historical fencing club based in Koblenz, Germany, serving people interested in European martial arts and traditional sword combat. The club teaches techniques inspired by historical fencing traditions from the 14th to the 17th centuries, drawing on original sources while using a modern, sports-medicine-informed approach. Its training covers the Longsword, sidesword and buckler, as well as rapier and dagger. Rapier fencing is presented as a predecessor to modern épée fencing.
The club welcomes participants from beginners to tournament-level fencers, with training adapted to each person’s abilities and experience. Members can develop their skills in a sporting setting, exploring both the practical and historical aspects of fencing associated with knights and musketeers. Scuola di Scherma also offers prospective members the opportunity to arrange a trial training session by contacting the club. Based in the Middle Rhine region, the association provides a community for learning historical fencing and engaging with European martial heritage.
