Sporting Clube Vasco da Gama is a basketball club founded in Porto, Portugal, in 1920. Established by young workers seeking opportunities for sport and recreation, it has grown into a historic institution recognized for its achievements, youth development and commitment to sporting values. The club is based at Parque das Camélias, its home since returning there in 1975, and is designated an Institution of Public Utility.

Basketball is central to the club’s identity, although its early sporting activities also included football and several other disciplines. Today, the club’s story and facilities are closely tied to basketball training and competition across age groups, from junior players to senior teams. Its covered court, the Oficina de Basquetebol Alves Teixeira, opened in 2004, with the venue completed in 2010.

Vasco da Gama’s honours include national senior and junior championships, a Taça de Honra/Taça de Portugal, numerous district titles and individual free-throw championships. The club also celebrates notable victories over the Brazilian national team in 1947 and Real Madrid.
