SD Rural Water, also known as the South Dakota Association of Rural Water Systems (SDARWS), is dedicated to providing high-quality services that meet the needs of and support the collective efforts of their water and wastewater membership. With a vision for South Dakota to have clean and healthy drinking water accessible to all its residents, SDARWS aims to ensure agriculture, business, and industry have the necessary quantity and quality of water for their operations. The history of SDARWS dates back to the late 1960s when discussions about rural water began in South Dakota.

Since then, the association has grown significantly, expanding its membership to nearly 300 organizations and employing a team of 13 individuals. They offer services such as water system membership and corporate/associate membership applications, regional water system research, technical assistance for water and wastewater systems, source water protection, and equipment. Recognized for their outstanding achievements in areas such as communications, technical assistance, and public relations, SDARWS continues to work towards their goals with enthusiasm and cooperation
