The San Diego Cactus & Succulent Society (SDCSS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting knowledge, study, and interest in cacti and succulent plants. Founded in 1961, our club consists of hobbyists, researchers, and enthusiasts who share a common passion for the unique and beautiful world of succulents. We welcome anyone, whether novice or expert, to join our group.
Our monthly meetings, held in Balboa Park, are open to the public and offer a platform for members to exchange knowledge and showcase their best plants on the Brag Table. During these meetings, we host renowned speakers who share their expertise in the field, followed by a question and answer session. Paid membership includes a subscription to our monthly newsletter, access to our extensive lending library, and privileges to interact with professional growers and experts in the field.
Members also have opportunities to participate in field trips, bus excursions, and volunteer at our yearly show and sale events. As an affiliate of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America (CSSA), we are part of a global community that supports conservation, environmental protection, and research. Our volunteers maintain beautiful gardens at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, featuring an impressive collection of Baja plants and succulents from Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
