SDG4BIZ is a project that aims to address the challenge of companies not recognizing and utilizing the business opportunities inherent in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. By 2030, if these opportunities are realized, it is estimated that 380 million jobs would be created and €10 trillion in business opportunities would be unlocked. Currently, companies lack the ability to tap into this growth potential, and higher educational institutions do not adequately support the development of future managers and policy makers in solving urgent global problems.
To tackle this issue, the SDG4BIZ project creates, tests, and disseminates an innovative curriculum and training material focused on recognizing and realizing business opportunities in the SDGs. The training covers 60 relevant business opportunities within the SDGs, spanning areas such as food and agriculture, cities, energy and materials, and health and wellbeing. Through an advanced learning platform, the impact of the curriculum adoption and business opportunity recognition can be easily measured and analyzed.
By 2023, the project aims to train 80% of teaching staff from partner higher educational institutions and integrate SDG business potential into teaching. Additionally, 115 companies have already trained their staff, leading to 60% of their employees applying the training and implementing it in their process and product development.
The ultimate goal of the project is to create new business ventures focused on the SDGs and enhance the competitiveness of companies by 2027. The curriculum and training material will be made available to 200-500 higher educational institutions and 2000-5000 European companies, contributing to business growth and the overall progress towards achieving the SDGs by 2030. The sustainability of the project is ensured through the continued availability of the training material, its integration into curricula, and the promotion of public-private cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and academic publications.
