The Southeastern Association of Area Agencies on Aging (SE4A) is a volunteer membership organization representing Area Agencies on Aging and older people across nine Southeastern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Established in 1973, the association grew from regional concern about national and local challenges facing agencies working to create effective programs for older adults. SE4A works to strengthen a coordinated, unified aging network throughout the Southeast and to raise the visibility and credibility of organizations serving older people.
It provides a collective voice to Congress, the Administration on Aging, public and private organizations, and other groups on issues affecting older Americans. The association also supports Area Agencies on Aging and their state associations, and develops specialized training to build the regionโs capacity. Through its website, SE4A shares information about conferences, webinars, legislative matters, disaster assistance, awards, scholarships, and news.
It also provides state-level agency contact information, helping members and the public connect with aging services across the region
