About Sea-Watch
Sea-Watch e. V. Founded in 2014, it aims to provide acute humanitarian aid amidst a state-initiated humanitarian crisis affecting refugees.
The organization operates rescue missions across Europe's borders, advocating for legal pathways for migration and the fundamental right to freedom of movement. Sea-Watch is politically and religiously independent, relying entirely on donations for its funding. The fleet includes several vessels, such as Sea-Watch 5 and Aurora, which are actively deployed for rescue operations, alongside aerial reconnaissance missions conducted by aircraft like Seabird.
The organization's foundational belief is that no one should perish at Europe's dangerous sea borders. Volunteers from various fields contribute their expertise in maritime operations, medical care, and logistics, pivotal to executing successful rescue missions. Sea-Watch also engages the public through educational initiatives, fundraising events, and encourages community involvement to bolster support for refugee protection efforts
