Sea League

Sea League is a Santa Barbara-based youth program offering ocean skills, marine science, and outdoor learning for children ages 6–14. Its approach centers on connection over competition, using surfing, swimming, snorkeling, and coastal experiences to build confidence, curiosity, healthy habits, and care for the ocean. Programs include eight-week after-school and weekend seasons in spring and fall, summer camps, and pool-based swim lessons that help children prepare for ocean activities. Through Pelagix, Sea League brings school groups to the coast for field-based marine science, providing instruction, equipment, safety support, and staff. It also creates custom sessions for organizations and private groups.

Sea League’s coaches are college students who are certified lifeguards and experienced watermen and women. The organization aims to make participation accessible through sliding-scale pricing and scholarships; it reports that 56% of participants attend on scholarships. Sea League is a fiscally sponsored project of Wilderness Youth Project, a registered nonprofit. Families can register for programs, while community members can support its work through donations, volunteering, or coaching.
