Sean Egan Art Glass is an independent crystal engraving business founded in Waterford City in March 2009 by master engraver Sean Egan. After 35 years working with Waterford Crystal, Egan established his own studio at the Bishop’s Palace Museum in the city’s Viking Triangle, with the aim of keeping Waterford’s copper wheel engraving tradition alive. Each piece is hand engraved using small copper wheels, giving the artwork distinctive depth, light and shadow. Because the work is handmade, no two pieces are exactly alike.
The collection includes crystal vases and bowls, perfume bottles, tankards, bud vases, decanters, barware, champagne flutes and seasonal gifts. The studio also creates awards, sports trophies and presentation pieces, alongside designs inspired by subjects such as Irish heritage, nature and sailing. Sean Egan Art Glass welcomes commissions and makes bespoke pieces to order, working with clients to understand their requirements before engraving begins. Customers can browse completed works or contact the studio to discuss a customised design and request a quote.
