Sean's Run

Sean’s Run is a community nonprofit organization based in Chatham, New York, that combines local events with youth-focused safety education and support. Its annual Sean’s Run Weekend brings participants together for activities including a 5K, Meghan’s Mile, Sean’s Ride, a Zumbathon, and Battle of the Belts. The weekend also features a prevention education expo and tributes to survivors, helping connect community participation with the organization’s mission.

Contributions added to entry fees, along with other donations, fund grants to schools and youth groups working to prevent underage drinking, impaired driving, and teens’ lax use of seat belts. The organization also awards scholarships to deserving regional high school seniors. In 2018, it distributed $8,655 for programs at 13 schools and youth groups and awarded $4,000 in scholarships to three seniors. Since 2002, its grants and scholarships have totaled $232,295. Sean’s Run shares information about its history, leadership, partners, grant and scholarship programs, sponsors, and Sean’s story, and invites people to participate, contribute, and support its work.
