Search Institute is a nonprofit organization that promotes positive youth development and advances equity through research and practical solutions. With over sixty years of experience, we collaborate with partners to conduct and apply rigorous research to build connections and help all young people learn and grow. Our research is focused on building strong developmental relationships and understanding systems of access, opportunity, justice, and power to eliminate barriers.

We embrace diverse perspectives, experiences, ways of learning, and forms of wisdom. Our approach is centered at the nexus of theory, research, and practice. We have a team of skilled developmental psychologists, applied research scientists, fellows, scholars, and seasoned educators who possess a wealth of experience and expertise in developmental theory, positive youth development, and prevention science.

We serve anyone who works with young people, including schools, out-of-school time programs, community coalitions, faith-based organizations, and foster care programs. We conduct mixed-method research, develop and distribute resources, create frameworks, and provide professional learning opportunities, workshops, measurements, and practical resources for our partners.
