About Seattle Monorail
Seattle Monorail is a historic brand known for providing fast and convenient transportation between downtown Seattle and Seattle Center since 1962. With a length of approximately one mile, the monorail system consists of two trains - the Blue Train and the Red Train - running on their own dedicated rails. Each train is equipped with 64 tires for stability and alignment along the pre-stressed concrete beams that make up the guideway.
The monorail runs on 700 volts DC, supplied through contact rails on each beam, providing a smooth and efficient ride for over two million passengers annually. Locals rely on the monorail for their daily commute, while tourists use it to explore the city and visit popular attractions. The monorail has made significant improvements to its stations to increase capacity, accessibility, and connection to the regional transit network.
Whether you're a local or a visitor, riding the Seattle Monorail offers a unique and scenic way to travel and experience the beauty of the city
