Second Star Farm & Wildlife Habitat is a Virginia-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates welcoming opportunities for children, families, and local community members to connect with horses, wildlife, agriculture, and the natural environment. Its programs are designed especially to serve under-resourced, underrepresented, and at-risk youth, while supporting education, inclusion, personal well-being, and responsible land stewardship. The organization works to remove financial barriers and provide a safe space where participants can learn, build confidence, and contribute to their community.
Offerings include horseback riding lessons for children ages 8 to 18, pony rides for children 12 and under, and equine interaction experiences where visitors can meet, brush, and learn about horses. The farm also offers beekeeping activities and a community garden, which grows produce to help feed neighbors in need. Birdwatching and other activities are planned. Through hands-on experiences such as caring for animals, planting gardens, and restoring wildlife habitat, Second Star Farm encourages respect for nature and a sense of shared responsibility. The nonprofit welcomes support through donations and volunteering.
