Secular Synagogue

Secular Synagogue is an online community for people seeking a meaningful Jewish life through secular or cultural Jewish learning, experiences, and connection. Its inclusive community welcomes people with diverse identities, beliefs, backgrounds, and relationships to Judaism, including secular, atheist, agnostic, spiritual, and interfaith members. The organization is committed to making Jewish spaces more welcoming for Queer and Trans people, BIPOC, and others who have traditionally felt excluded.

Led by Rabbi Denise Handlarski, Secular Synagogue offers Jewish learning, cultural content, and resources for Shabbat and holidays, alongside year-round material on Jewish life and social justice. Online programming gives members opportunities to connect and participate from home, while public workshops and events offer a way for newcomers to explore the community. Rabbi Denise also shares occasional emails with tips and perspectives on making Jewish practice personal and relevant.

Secular Synagogue invites prospective members to join its mailing list for updates and content. The organization also sells branded merchandise, with 25 percent of proceeds supporting a social justice cause benefiting BIPOC.
