Seedlings: Connection

Seedlings is a nature-focused early childhood education community based in Ridgewood, New Plymouth. Guided by the vision of authentic community learning that nurtures awe, wonder, and love for nature, the earth, and life, the organisation offers several connected programmes for children and families. Its roots began with Seedlings Nature Kindergarten, which opened in 2015, followed by parent courses for babies and toddlers in 2017 and Seedlings Nature School in 2021. The wider programme also includes The Explorers and seasonal gatherings for families.

Seedlings describes its environment as homely, cosy, wild, and welcoming. Its approach centres on child-led, heart-centred learning immersed in nature, with attention to each child’s individual needs, personality, confidence, and sense of belonging. The team also supports parents and caregivers through courses, guidance, and community connection. Families’ testimonials highlight compassionate communication and a nurturing atmosphere where children can explore, learn, and develop empathy and self-confidence. Through its educational programmes and family offerings, Seedlings brings connection, nature, and play together in a welcoming learning community.
