About SEE
The Sociedad Española de Epidemiología (SEE) is a non-profit entity that aims to cultivate and promote the study and better understanding of Epidemiology. As part of their efforts, the SEE, through its Vaccination Working Group, has developed a guide to address possible doubts about immunization against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in babies. RSV is the main cause of bronchiolitis in children under 5 years old, particularly in newborns and infants under 6 months old.
The approved monoclonal antibody prevents severe forms of RSV infection. It is projected that RSV circulation in Spain will be highest between November and January. To prevent transmission of the virus to newborns, epidemiologists recommend thoroughly washing hands before feeding or handling them, and minimizing contact with as few people as necessary.
