Seido Dunedin

Seido Karate Dunedin is a friendly traditional karate club serving the Dunedin community since its branch was formed in 1980. It welcomes men, women and children at different stages of experience, from beginners to advanced students, and offers a junior section on Sunday mornings for younger members. Training is led by Shuseki Shihan Kelvin Lewis, a seventh-degree black belt with more than 40 years of experience, supported by Sei Shihan Kelvin Wilson and other black-belt instructors.

The club’s teaching combines karate technique and physical fitness with the development of self-discipline and confidence. Its approach to karate-do also encourages physical, mental and spiritual growth, with the aim of helping students enrich their everyday lives. Seido Karate Dunedin has developed more than 80 black belts, some of whom now hold prominent roles in dojos elsewhere.

The training dojo is centrally located, about a five-minute walk from the Octagon. The club also shares news, events and photos, and invites visitors to subscribe for updates
