Seishinkan West

Seishinkan West is a traditional martial arts school based in Wittmann, Arizona, offering instruction for adults and children. Its programs include Isshin-Ryu Karate, Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method, Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-Ryu, and Matayoshi Kobudo. Training covers karate, tai chi, traditional sword and staff arts, and Okinawan weapons such as sai, bo, and nunchaku.

The school emphasizes practical, real-world self-defense rather than sport or competition martial arts. Classes are available for adults and young students, with scheduled sessions in karate, taijiquan, and kobudo. Seishinkan West also offers private lessons and Zoom instruction, and invites prospective students to contact the school for a free trial class.

The school was opened in Wittmann in 2022 by Sensei Michael Calandra, who previously owned a dojo in New York for more than 35 years. A retired NYPD detective, he is an internationally recognized instructor who has taught seminars in the United States and abroad
