About AMEA nəzdində Respublika Seysmoloji Xidmət Mərkəzi
The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences is home to the Republic Seismological Service Center, the only organization in Azerbaijan dedicated to the research and study of earthquakes. The center conducts comprehensive seismological, geophysical, geochemical, and geodynamic research. It operates modern seismic stations with satellite communication in the International Monitoring System at the RSXM location within the International Data Center.
Notably, these seismic stations, manufactured by the US-based company Kinemetrics, are present in major countries worldwide. The center currently has 84 seismic stations operating throughout the country and has installed 12 seismic stations around mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan, providing valuable insight into their dynamics. Additionally, the center operates 24 GPS stations and other geophysical and geochemical stations.
It has established partnerships with around 30 international seismological centers and is a member of prominent international seismological organizations like EMSC, IRIS, ORFEUS, ESC, EGU, and AGU. Through its work, the Republic Seismological Service Center generates data used not only for production purposes but for scientific research as well
