About SELGYC
SELGYC is the Spanish Society of General and Comparative Literature, established in Madrid in 1977. Its main objective is to promote the study of literature in all its forms, including Comparative Literature and General Literary Theory. One of their flagship events is the biennial Symposium dedicated to General and Comparative Literature.
SELGYC also publishes an annual journal called 1616, Anuario de Literatura Comparada and the Proceedings of the Symposia, which are published by the hosting universities. The most recent Proceedings can be found in the Estudios de Literatura Comparada collection. Additionally, the Society publishes the collection Nuevos horizontes de Literatura Comparada, which features articles presented during the Meetings of Young Researchers.
Currently, Margarita Alfaro Amieiro is the President of SELGYC for the period 2023-2027. She has succeeded esteemed professors like Dámaso López García, Montserrat Cots, Carlos Alvar, Carlos García Gual, and Manuel. SELGYC is dedicated to fostering academic research and collaboration in the field of literature, providing a platform for scholars to share their work and ideas
