The Sociedad Española de Malherbología (SEMh) is a Spanish scientific society dedicated to weed science, or malherbology, and has worked in the field since 1989. It brings together members interested in weeds and their management, with activities supporting research, education, and the exchange of professional knowledge. The society organizes scientific congresses and technical seminars, coordinates working groups, and offers scholarships and awards for students and postgraduate researchers.
Its publications include newsletters, congress proceedings, calendars, and educational resources. These include a photographic guide to identifying weed propagules, with more than 150 descriptive profiles covering important weeds affecting crops in northeastern Spain, as well as images of seeds, fruits, seedlings, and mature plants. SEMh also provides information on university teaching, plant health notices, technical data sheets, identification programs, and herbicide resistance.
Through its Herbicide Resistance Prevention Committee, the society advises on and supports the management of herbicide resistance in Spain, emphasizing prevention. SEMh shares news and resources with its community and promotes collaboration across natural, agricultural, and digital ecosystems
