Senergy SUARL, a local company, initiated the Senergy solar power plant project and signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SENELEC. To ensure the successful development of the project, Meridiam and FONSIS joined forces with Senergy SUARL, contributing their expertise and financing solutions. Senergy PV SA was subsequently established as a collaboration among the three shareholders to design, build, and operate the remarkable 30 MWp solar project in Santhiou Mekhe, an area located approximately 125 Km from Dakar in West Africa.

In addition to the solar power plant, Senergy also constructed a 9.5 km medium-voltage line to connect the plant to the local power substation owned by SDE, the Senegalese water company. This grand endeavor was completed in June 2017 and was inaugurated by President Macky SALL. The project was facilitated by a state guarantee, which secured the necessary financing from Proparco.
