Senior Pet and Animal Rescue (SPAAR) is a dedicated animal rescue organization based in Pittsburgh, PA. Founded by Jen and Laura, who have a deep passion for senior animals, SPAAR provides a safe haven for animals that are often considered less adoptable or difficult to place. At SPAAR, our mission is to educate the public about the benefits of adopting senior animals and the importance of spaying and neutering pets.

We work closely with pet owners to provide assistance that allows senior animals to stay with their families and avoid being surrendered to shelters. As a 501(c)(3) foster-based organization, all of our animals, including those in hospice care, reside in loving foster homes. While our long-term plan entails creating a dedicated space for senior animals, we currently rely on our dedicated foster network.

At SPAAR, we offer various services, including adoption and fostering programs, as well as support for senior pet owners. We also provide resources such as a Ask the Trainer blog, grief and loss support, and helpful information on why adopting senior dogs and cats is a wonderful choice. By supporting SPAAR, you not only provide a second chance at life for a senior animal but also contribute to our mission of creating a compassionate community for all pets.
