Sensory Matters

Sensory Matters is a child-focused occupational therapy practice dedicated to supporting children’s health, development, and well-being through meaningful activities and play. Its therapists work with children from birth to 18 years, taking a client-centred approach that considers each child’s abilities and needs across play, learning, social interaction, independence, and self-care.

The practice offers comprehensive developmental assessments, with diagnostic therapy available when a child needs more than one session to assess. Individual therapy is typically scheduled weekly, with reassessment after six months; group sessions may also be offered when appropriate. Areas of support include sensory processing, fine motor and eye–hand coordination, school skills, daily living skills, social interaction, and managing behaviour and emotions. Sensory Matters also helps families source equipment to support independence.

The team welcomes children with a wide range of developmental needs and diagnoses, including autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, and developmental delays. Its special interests include sensory integration and neurodevelopmental therapy, alongside support for feeding challenges, fussy infants, and cerebral visual impairment.
