Serene Midwifery

Serene Midwifery provides personalized, family-centered maternity care in Indianapolis and surrounding communities. Midwives April Brake and Kalu Vaughan, identified as CPMs and CDEMs, serve clients in areas including Fortville, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Anderson, and beyond. Their approach views pregnancy and childbirth as natural processes and emphasizes mutual trust, informed decision-making, and collaboration between families and their midwife.

Care is intended for normal- to low-risk pregnancies and includes prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum support within the midwives’ scope of practice. The practice also offers doula services and resources for families exploring birth options. Educational offerings include Essential Childbirth Education, a one-day class for families planning natural childbirth at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital, and a breastfeeding class led by Katie Coffey, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
