The Southeast Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Regional Center (ROTA-RC) is a Florida State University College of Social Work initiative focused on strengthening rural communities affected by opioid and stimulant use. Serving eight states in the Southeast’s Region 4, the center aims to improve resilience in 168 targeted rural communities by expanding awareness of substance use, harm reduction, prevention, and treatment options.
ROTA-RC develops and shares training and technical assistance for rural communities, working with local governments and partners to increase understanding of the factors that contribute to opioid and stimulant misuse. Its work supports the use of evidence-based programs and the expansion of prevention and treatment services. The center also provides educational resources, including a course catalog, substance use disorder curriculum, webinars, and symposium content. Visitors can access resource libraries, maps of opioid treatment facilities, and a locator for Narcan and other resources. ROTA-RC offers training and newsletter sign-ups, shares news and stories, and provides information about its regional network, staff, and partners.
