Serum Australis is an Australian family-owned producer and supplier of horse and sheep blood products. It serves university research and teaching laboratories and supplies defibrinated blood to Australian blood agar plate manufacturers. The company’s range includes horse and sheep blood, serum and plasma, as well as sheep blood in Alsever’s solution. It also offers custom-made antibodies using antigens supplied by clients, produced in horses or sheep.
Serum Australis emphasizes product quality, reliable service and animal husbandry. Its horses are mostly retired standardbred harness racers, and the company says its animals are kept in low-stress conditions and are striven to be chemical-free. Its stated approach connects animal health with soil health and biodiversity, with the broader aim of reducing its carbon footprint. Products are developed for scientific and laboratory applications, with blood described as having consistent shelf life, sterility and low haemolysis. Serum is made from defibrinated blood using a gentle process. Customers can order online, and the business highlights direct communication and support for specific requirements.
